Currently, Ostrava's 85-meter-tall New Town Hall which was built in the 1930s holds the position of the tallest building. While the AZ Tower in Brno is labeled as the Czech Republic's tallest building as of now which measures 111 meters. When complete the envisioned skyscraper will be twice more than the height of AZ Tower.
The Ostrava Tower will be constructed near to the city’s 1960s modernist House of Culture, which is renovated by Architecture Acts and Steven Holl Architects
Fascinating and Iconic X-Shaped Building
The unique shape of the building, which is located near a shopping center and former steelworks, consists of two stacked triangular forms.
Featuring an X-shape, the building “creates a simple but powerful form that acts as a beacon into the city center” as per Michal Kristof, co-founder, Chybik + Kristof.
The design of the building shows a complex set of alternating walls and a glazed facade that allows stunning views of the city and the surrounding landscape while maintaining privacy and safety.
