The Cupertino giant- Apple's new retail store in Mumbai is its company-owned company-operated store in India. All previous stores of the company were designed in partnership with architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, while in recent years, the company entrusted the design and construction of all its newer stores, as well as its corporate Apple Park campus, to architectural firm Foster + Partners.

India has overtaken the United States to become the world's second-largest smartphone market after China. Further, Apple has seen consistent growth in its products, especially the iPhone, in the country, which has made Apple the first company to hit a $3 trillion market cap. Even last month it became the first company to export smartphones worth $1 billion (Rs8,100 crore) in a sole month from India, achieving the milestone in December 2022. This has given Apple enough boost and potential to invest further in the upper tier of the smartphone segment.

Abundance of Lighting

The splendid architecture of the store spanning over 22,000 square feet will grab the attention of passersby. Especially, when the store will lighten up with the abundance of lighting.

The company has more than 500 stores in major cities across the world, including Dubai, London, New York and Tokyo. With this new store opening in India, the firm plans to increase its production, from manufacturing to sales, within the South Asian market.

Colourful Interpretation of Decals

The design of the store underscores a colourful welcome to customers with the classic Apple greeting “Hello Mumbai”. It further says, " Apple BKC coming soon. We are getting ready to welcome you aboard our first store in India. And raring to see where your creativity takes you at Apple BKC".

Apple has also curated a playlist Apple BKC on its music streaming service.

The official date of the store opening is yet to be announced, followed by its second retail store, which is also slated to open in June in New Delhi’s Select Citywalk. The Apple store in Delhi will spread across 10,000 to 12,000 square feet. It will be interesting to see what element Apple will use as a design inspiration for the Delhi store.
