In a 2200 sq ft high-rise apartment in Chennai, House of Lines' philosophy shines through. Vertically fixed clay tiles on one interior wall provide the sole contrasting element, enhancing the sense of spaciousness with predominantly grey hues. The client's desire for an elegant and affordable home inspired the minimalistic interiors of this project. SURFACES REPORTER (SR) delves into further details from the designers.
Enhancing Fluidity and Airiness
The color scheme promotes fluidity, disrupting space rigidity. Complimenting the color scheme is the furniture, which is master crafted and handmade. The design of the furniture used one singular material, wood, and uses it to express its solidarity.
Looking light yet sturdy in nature, the material is not combined with any other material for sheer respect to the materiality. Blank frames in the living room complement the ‘lightness’ of the apartment, allowing maximum light inside the living space.
Unique Bedroom Color Schemes
Each bedroom features a distinct color scheme tailored to the client's preferences. One bedroom showcases a soothing pastel pink palette, with a bed featuring a backsplash reminiscent of the coffered ceiling pattern applied to the wall.
Solid wood wardrobes add richness and style, with door handles seamlessly integrated into the wardrobe shutters, presenting a unified panel.
Innovative Kitchen Design
The kitchen features a sleek, handleless modular unit and an intriguing wooden breakfast counter attached to the granite surface.
Designed to maximize space efficiency, the counter allows chairs to be concealed underneath without obstructing pathways. Two high chairs complement the elevated breakfast counter seamlessly. Asymmetrical rock-shaped wooden pieces on the wall embody subtle sophistication.
