Research suggests that nearly 2.5 gallon of water is wasted while showering at home. The amount being wasted an entire month or a year would be tremendously alarming. Certainly to curb this situation one cannot simply avoid a shower. However, to beat water wastage, product designer Natasha Jadhav has come up with a brilliant shower design that saves a tremendous amount of water. Her latest invention Smart Shower – packed with an interactive aesthetic – is designed to help save water.

Balancing aesthetic and utility
An amalgamation of the artistic balance of form and functionality, the Smart Shower is ideated with smart features including an actual shower on the ceiling of the bathroom, a sleek white console that holds the panels, a hand shower and a pressure-sensitive panel on the floor.
To start the shower, one has to simply rotate the intuitive centre panel of the console.
To start the shower, one has to simply rotate the intuitive centre panel of the console. The centre panel can be rotated on either side to smartly control the flow of water. The coloured central panel controls the temperature of the water. On rotating the panel to the left, the outlined LED rim on the console turns red indicating the water is hot; while rotating the panel to the left, the console turns blue indicating the intensity of cold water.

Pressure-sensitive panel
The smart element of the shower is its floor which is equipped with a pressure-sensitive panel. On stepping into the pressure-sensitive panel, the console on the wall instantly recognizes the user by welcoming with lights up. On the other hand, when the user steps off the pressure-sensitive panel to grab soap or shampoo, the water flow gets immediately cut off, thereby preventing wastage of water. Technically advanced, the Smart Shower senses the weight of the user when stepped on again and resumes the flow of water. Furthermore, the shower automatically switches off after five minutes of zero activity.
