Located in the Vyom tower of the Z-One Apartment Complex in Bhubaneswar, this design concocts all the right elements with a few surprises, in a neat bow! “All creative endeavours that we venture into, our desire has been to preserve the deep legacy, our country is a part of. Whether it is the antique doors patterns of royal havelis, or colonial type furnishing; we love to sprinkle these facets in any interior space. These aspects are what make a design memorable and classy!” explained Srrinivas Patnaik - one of the founding principals at Ocasa.
Neutral Tones Combined With Archaic Features
Much true to his statement, and being at par with the client’s creative choices, this penthouse design features a unique blend of muted tones and a few archaic features which are hard to ignore. Entitled as ‘The Antique Amalgam’, the bliss of this potpourri of eras is soothing to the eyes and the soul.
The inception of the design, which warmly greets the imminent users of this home, consists of a short foyer accentuated by an artistic touch. Indulged with understated tones of creme and white, the living room then catches the glance and presents an intimate setting, brimmed with panache.
Intricately crafted furnishing in wood, balanced with patterned soft furnishing, aids to implement the concept of melange. While these pieces and the TV unit pose to hold up the traditional Indian craftsmanship, the large sofa is electric blue, amps up the contemporary vibe and instills the pop of color required. An avante-garde ceiling light called a ‘twinz fan’ in the center and motorized curtains for high windows, also grace the ambiance of this room.
Being a duplex, this penthouse also houses a double heighted wall, with an aspect one should not miss out on. An antique yet baroquely crafted wooden door, symbolic of the glistening royal times, quickly grasps your attention and honestly..doesn't let go! Each carving on this decor facet is a testament to the skills of the artists.
Dining Setup and Bar Area
The dining room has also been designed with complementary shades to harmonize and impart the conjunction in concept. A small yet chic dining set up for six, designed and created by an inhouse team at Ocasa, is all one can need to enjoy a hearty meal with the family. Tucked in one corner with an aura of euphoria, the bar features a set of synonymous blue chairs and a host of stylish decor pieces.
A kids room featuring a subtle yet utilitarian bunk bed and a blush guest room, also forms a part of this multifarious level. Curated with a pink floral patterned wallpaper, muted tinted verticals and a separate closet space in gray; any guest would love to delve in such a pleasant space!
Perching to the upper level through the glass partitioned staircase, a small lounge with a complying blue sofa and a bookcase quickly drives the curiosity to venture forward. However, one cannot help but glance a more detailed view of the antique decor on the double heightened wall, for a quick second.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom has been created with natural shades of green and brown, with a few accents of gold. Wrapped up with a leather headrest, a comfortable bed and a set of sea green velvet seating, ‘subtly luxurious’ is the only way to define the design of this space. An attached walk-in closet with an array of storage units and a spotlight-themed reflective surface, is sure to make one feel like a superstar every morning!
To sum it up, ‘The Antique Amalgam’ is not the ursula display of ostentatious luxury, it is an ode to spaces that narrate a whole story with minimal yet voguish elements.
