Sicis – available in India through Tessera – recently launched its striking Jakuchu collection in India. Sicis aims to pay tribute to the great Japanese painter Ito Jakuchu through this collection by creating real and unique paintings.
The Jakuchu collection features artistic mosaics which are masterfully created with minute mosaic to generate a refined sensation of movement, allowing one to recreate the original design in a precise way. The collection adorns the walls of a house, giving it a sense of refinement. The series includes artistic mosaics in which art, research and tradition come together. In a more avant-garde version, these creations transform into doors or walls themselves. The collection evokes the naturalistic, figurative oriental art. The mosaics, rich in nuances, recall a strong pictorial effect. The choice of colours, reflecting the typical palette of shades of Japanese painting, and the refinement of manufacturing are the peculiar features of this collection.
According to the technique of artistic mosaic, every single tile has been cut and set by hand. In this specific work, minute mosaic tiles had been matched, generating a particularly refined play of shades. Tiles of 440 different colours had been processed, which had been produced and which reflected the typical palette of shades of Japanese painting and the refinement of the workmanship used.
