Designed by Poonam Mehta and Akash Mehta of AMPM Designs, this grand Pune home covering an area of 5000 Sq ft captures attention with its elegant mauve hues. his space is an amalgamation of co-habiting areas that do not exist to complete but instead work to complete the home. SURFACES REPORTER (SR) spoke with the designers to get more details. Read on:
“When we approach a space, we start with requirements, the practicalities of the space and the service- all the things that would make the space easy to use. Here, the client’s wanted to have a grand entrance to the house to which we incorporated the tailormade solid metal wall installation with marble and mesh to create the wall back of the entrance,” shares Poonam. The perforated shutter in PU mocha finish was created from top to bottom for the shoe cabinet.
Informal Living Area
The informal area wall is sandwiched with metal framed fluted glass doors, marble panelling and veneer on the side. The fireplace carved in marble along with a pop-up TV comes on marble panelling is the eye-catching feature of the space.
Design team has used detailed wallpaper on the ceiling which brings opulence and richness to the space.
Formal Living Area
The formal living was flowing into the informal living with the feature of the metal sliding doors at the side. The whole combination, the expanse of the room with the chandelier and the moulding on the wall with a veneered ceiling flowing into the informal room. \
“We wanted to maintain the same flooring throughout so that it gives the large expanse to the space. The marbled textured wallpaper on the walls highlighted by direct lighting is a great feature of the space,” tells Akash.
A Tiny Home Office
The residence holds a tiny home office which gets its boss vibe from the dramatic mother of pearl inlay done on the floor and a bust veneer dyed grey with gold accents unit display was crafted for the achievement of the client.
Master Bedroom
Moving to a mauve theme, the firm went into deep shades, almost black for the master bedroom. The bespoke handles, the veneer and PU on the wardrobe create a perfect collage for this space.
The bed back was created using different hues of veneer and integrated metal jali cutting. The wooden flooring adds warmth to the space.

Dining Area
Bringing in most drama to this residence is the dining area with mirror ceiling, peacock mosaic walls is a significance to client’s story and metal partition. The Klove chandelier from their Goa collection is stealing the heart. The dark veneer with dark flooring was a bold move but at the same time, it brings richness to the space. A metal jali was used to separate the living and dining space.
Bringing out the essence of mauve hues was a thrilling and enriching experience, as it allowed the designers to explore and experiment with materials and design elements.
