As this 2 BHK apartment in Mumbai was required some ingenious plumbing and repairing due to plaster leaking, and a lot of leakages in different areas, Chaitali Parikh-Mehta & Sejal Parikh of Inscape Designers took on the formidable task of breaking this entire apartment to the bare shell and rebuilt the spatial footprint completely. The 2BHK apartment measures 1000 square feet is a humble abode of a couple who are in their sixties and wanted a neutral-toned but modern home. SURFACES REPORTER (SR) has collected more details about the project from the firm. Swipe up to see the entire home:

This old residence in the marine drive area was refashioned by the Mumbai-based interior and design studio. It involved immense civil work due to the previous condition of the house which had a lot of leakages, plaster peeling. “We broke down the entire apartment to the bare shell and started rebuilding the walls, plastering, etc from there,” said the designer.
Classy Living Room, Kitchen and Dining Area
For the living room, the studio opted for an L-shaped sofa with the chaise portion parallel to the low window. The sofa sits on a Cocoon Rugs carpet and a subtle light grey textured wall cover behind the sofa complements the carpet weaves.
A table from Baro with a glass top has been chosen to accentuate the dining area. As this space is a bit tight, the glass top had a lighter feel and the continuous marble flooring can be seen through it.
The design team added a bench on the living area side so the view to the dining area isn’t blocked by the backside of the dining chairs.
The kitchen is again a neutral palette of beige tiles with a granite countertop and laminate shutters for easy maintenance as this area is used frequently by the owners.
Monochromatic Master Bedroom
A hand-crafted solid wooden four-poster bed from Magnolia becomes the focal point of the master bedroom.
The studio added a textured neutral beige wallcovering to heighten the look of this room and it offers a perfect backdrop to highlight the bed.
The attached master bathroom is finished in similar tones of beige and brown tiles.

A Simple Yet Elegant Powder Room to Impress the Guests
The powder room was a tiny area of just 12 sqft To visually increase this area, they added a full floor to ceiling mirror which makes the space look larger. A ceiling-mounted tap above the pedestal basin adds drama to this space!
The guest bedroom palette is in soft colours of teals and greys with the grey being repeated in the attached bathroom tiles.
A Rich Appearance to the Floor
The design team used a rich beige Italian marble for the flooring throughout the house to give a seamless look. So even when the bedroom doors are left open, the same marble flooring continues out into the hall and entrance passage.
