Classic Elements Give A European Touch To This Delhi Home Laced With Contemporary Features | Archstudio18

Envisioned and designed by Gagan Mahana of Archstudio 18, this beautiful home dubbed 'Nilaya' in Delhi gives a European vibe with the use of classic mouldings, cornicles and rich fabrics fused with contemporary features. Warm colors give a bright tinge of effect to the house. The color design is a peculiar mix of myriad color tones and natural wood as the primary material, giving the space an organic experience. White is a significant choice since it celebrates the magnificence that symbolizes the homeowner’s freedom of thought. Take a walkthrough of this home through the details and images shared by Mahana with SURFACES REPORTER (SR).

nilaya-archstudio18-surfaces-reporterEvery room reflects the aesthete’s tastes and channelizes their narrative. Despite its bijou size, we designed a home with top-notch style, grace, and utility. The furniture was a bespoke creation to reflect the style and personality of the owners. The artwork, sculptures and accessories provided come from the architect’s travel collection from around the world.

Against a monochromatic theme, this apartment features basic, sleek, and stylish décor components. Color tones, like a breath of fresh air, match the classic finishes throughout the home, while thoughtful window placement shines upon the living room with natural light and airflow.

Living Area Enlivened With Mellow Tones

The apartment opens to a wood-paneled living area with beige, grey  and ivory tones. The mellow styles and jute suede upholstery emphasize the home’s royal, comfortable aesthetic.

Warm Ambience in the Dining Zone

A family that eats together, stays together – A maxim that underlines the significance of the Dining Area in a home.

"We have designed the Dining Area, by reusing the old Dining Table and Chairs for a touch of nostalgia, replacing the top with Italian marble and fabric with something that would blend with the warm ambience of the Dining Area," explains Mahana. The walls have added the charm of traditional design used to give a sense of harmony.

Country Side Kitchen

The kitchen was the heart of the home as my client was going to spend the majority of her time in it. So, seeing her taste in design, we made a customized kitchen instead of a modular. This corner of the home was dripped with the perfection of classy Spanish tiles, giving a contemporary look to the home.

The hues of teal green revitalize the countryside concept kitchen and bring in some positive wisdom. Not using a chimney was the right decision as 8’6”X10’3” space had enough cross ventilation due to the iconic Ireland-style Georgian windows, and it also made the kitchen look more spacious and elegant.

Simple Yet Elegant Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is designed to feel and simple yet sophisticated. The wardrobe and the TV unit facing the bed were designed to look like a leather paneled wall with a matt polished veneer.

The warmth was added with a eucalyptus veneer styled with brass inserts as the bed back with the pattern same followed on each of the sides.

Vibrant Kids' Room

The kids' room done in greens, blues and greys accommodate one double bed, opening up the room for kids.

To validate the view from the sixth floor all the balconies were presentably designed to have a fresh air spot with all different aura enjoying all the possible views and fresh air.
