Abyss Horizon Coffee Table is the latest edition by Duffy London. Layers of natural birchwood with marble colorant and sculpted blue glass form a captivating, 3-dimensional canvas with a huge sinkhole at its center.

Christopher Duffy, Founder, of Duffy London,  shares, “For this piece I wanted to achieve something very pure; a streamlined and elegant Abyss design that accentuates the overall visual effect, the wow factor!  By redesigning the base section with slim legs to give a more graceful profile, we are also helping to focus the attention on the table-top more.”

Inspiration Behind the Design

Just like all of Duffy London’s concept-based creations, the inspiration for this unique coffee table comes from the initial study of depth and how we perceive it. The design of the table depicts the amazing use of the interplay of light and layers of natural birchwood, marble, and blue glass.

The top of the table evokes oceanic topography showcasing how we see the colour of water transform at varying depths.

How is it Designed?

The silhouette of the furniture is carved from a single block of White Italian Carrara Marble with the help of the latest CAD technology. The designer used Carrara marble for the very first time in creating this furniture. The combination of blue-tinted glass and marble gives an arctic-like effect to the new edition.

The new, streamlined edition comes in either a 120cm diameter or 140cm diameter. It is hand-crafted to order in London by Christopher Duffy and the Duffy London team.
