The sculptural Helicoidal staircase is the focal point of the global luxury group- Kering’s new office in Mexico City. Award-winning architect Fernando Romero of Fr-Ee- Fernando Romero Enterprises aimed to create a space that looks both dynamic, calm and comfortable for the staff working at the offices while incorporating features that ensure the wellness and safety of employees. Kering is a famous luxury group that manages several popular brands in fashion, leather goods, jewellery, and watches. The office design revolves around creating a space where Kering’s employees work at ease, with plenty of light.
“Our brief was to create a site that captures the essence of luxury and exclusivity that characterize Kering’s brands, and we did so by developing a timeless, elegant and sustainable architectural proposal,” says the director and founder, Fernando Romero.

The building contains two levels and allows plenty of natural light to enter the spaces, showcasing Kering’s commitment to a healthful work atmosphere.
Spiral Staircase
The main feature of the building is its black twisting staircase that can be visible from any part of the office.
The interior partitions in the offices are built of transparent and curved glass. These give a bold and excellent contrast to the monochromatic colour palette.
Material Palette
Wood, concrete and glass are the primary materials that have been selected for the office. These materials harmonize well with the soft and earthy colour palette of grey, black, white, and beige.
The firm also used ‘recinto’ stone; a volcanic stone- that comes from an area near Mexico City, to give a natural and authentic feel. Further, they finished the walls with ‘chukum’ that comes from the bark of a tree and found in Yucatan.
