Established as a humble speciality store for joinery needs in a very unsettling political-social scenario of 1923 in Nagold, Hafele today has an international presence. Adolf Häfele and Hermann Fun started the journey by opening a store named "Products for the hardware and tool industry" in Aulendorf in Württemberg. The German family owned and operated company is now witnessing the family's third generation with Sibylle Thierer becoming the chair of the Häfele Group in 2003.
By 2013, the Häfele family business received a worldwide recognition in the furniture fittings and architectural hardware industry, as well as in electronic access control systems, serving the foreign market through an extensive network of branch offices. Häfele employs more than 6,000 employees and has 37 subsidiaries, as well as many additional dealerships throughout the world. Today customers from 150 countries rely on Häfele's expertise and performance.
Despite the challenging economical environment, the Häfele Group's business figures have continued to develop positively. In the 2012 financial year the Häfele Group had revenue of over 1 billion Euros with exports accounting for a 76% share. The company caters to a huge array of customers including the furniture industry, dealers, joiners and cabinet makers, as well as architects, planners and builders.
